Attention PPL Students! Important Information!

October 4th, 2008

Massport has directed that EFA must now maintain direct control over the security badges of all flight school students.  Our dispatchers will have the primary responsibility for managing this policy.  We will require your cooperation to help us implement these new procedures. Thank you in advance for your understanding and assistance.

Effective immediately, we request that you return your badge to the dispatch desk, removed from the lanyard, after your next training flight.  Your badge will be stored in a file box, and you will be issued a receipt.  The lanyard will be stored separately in a container with all lanyards.  For those not scheduled to fly before October 15th, please return the badge in person, or by certified mail, prior to that date.

When you check in for a flight, the dispatcher will have you sign a daily log of badge issuance, and give you your badge and a lanyard from the collection, along with the tach card and aircraft keys.  Upon return, the dispatcher will collect your badge along with the keys and tach card, and initial and note the time of return.  It is your responsibility to return the badge and assure that its return is annotated.  At the close of business, the dispatcher will assure that all badges have been returned; if you fail to return yours, the dispatcher will phone to request a timely return.

If you return after the desk is closed, your CFI will collect and record the return of your badge.  In the unlikely event you are unable to enter the EFA office, the badge should be placed in the mail slot in the door bottom.  It will be your responsibility to call EFA the next morning to confirm receipt and recording of your badge return.

To summarize, please return your badge to EFA by October 15th, or call/email to let us know when you will bring it in.  EFA will retain possession of the badge until you come in to fly, and will secure it again afterward.  Once you get your Private Pilot certificate, the badge will again be placed in your personal custody.  This program applies only to Student Pilots, and not to certificated pilots pursuing other certificates, ratings or other advanced training.
