Certified Flight Instructors
Full-Time and Part-Time
EFA is one of the oldest and largest flight Schools in New England. It offers Part 141 and Part 61 training for all fixed wing certificates and ratings, along with one of the finest aerobatic programs in the country. We currently have over a dozen aircraft on the line. The EFA Fleet includes a number of “Classic” Cessna 172′s, a large selection of late model Cessna 172SP’s, a Cessna 182, a Piper Arrow, a Beechcraft Duchess and aerobatic aircraft.
EFA employs both full-time and part-time CFIs, offering a pay scale that is above industry averages and a premium for experienced instructors. Most of our new, full-time CFIs are recent graduates of a college or professional program. We prefer candidates who are businesslike, well-spoken and customer service oriented. Instructing experience is not a requirement, though safety-mindedness, a strong work ethic and a commitment to EFA’s style of flight training are. While we prefer CFIs to have their instrument instructor certificate before being hired, we will consider those who agree to complete their CFII training with EFA within 60 days of hiring, at reduced employee rates.
Our part-time instructors play a major role in our training business. We offer attractive hourly rates and a great instructional environment to qualified CFIs with other jobs. Applicants must be available 2-3 weekday mornings or afternoons and at least one full weekend day. Aerobatics, multiengine, CFI/CFII/MEI, technically advanced aircraft (TAA) transition and and ATP training are often handled by our part-time professionals.
CFIs can expect a full student load soon after starting, with full-time CFIs working 6-day weeks, including weekends and most holidays, the times most of our customers want to schedule their training. New CFIs move right into Private, Commercial and Instrument instruction, along with aircraft checkouts, BFRs, IPCs, etc. Full-time CFIs often log 80 hours or more per month (some will approach 40 hours in a single week). Many become Part 141 Check Instructors within six months.
We are quite selective in our interview and hiring process and require our CFIs to adhere to high standards of ethics, honesty and professionalism. We look for outgoing personalities and expect an instructor to serve as an educator and a customer service professional, as well as a knowledgeable, safety-conscious pilot. Our CFIs adhere to dress and grooming standards and project an image reflecting EFA’s values at all times.
Customer Service/Aircraft Dispatchers
Full-Time and Part-Time
Applicants must enjoy working with customers and have some general aviation background (pilots preferred). They serve as “the face of EFA” at the counter and on the phone. Dispatchers welcome potential clients, dispatch and check-in all flights, schedule clients for training and rental, schedule aircraft for flying and maintenance, advise customers on weather and safety conditions, handle reservations and manage invoicing. There are flight check and ferry opportunities for certificated pilots. Applicants absolutely must have strong computer skills and be available to work various shifts including weekends.
Benefits package for full-time employees includes employer contributions to health and dental plans and annual vacation after one year. Full- and part-time employees receive discounts on aircraft rental and instruction.
Line Service Personnel
Full-Time and Part-Time
Line service personnel are responsible for keeping a fleet of more than a dozen EFA aircraft aircraft fueled, clean and in customer-pleasing condition. Line service operates the fuel truck and other line service vehicles. They must taxi and tow aircraft, monitor and secure the ramp, wash and detail airplanes and generally take pride managing the most well-maintained fleet around.
EFA line service operates seven days per week, from 6:45 AM to late evening, 364 days annually. Applicants must be flexible, willing to work various shifts and enjoy direct contact with the variety of customers who are training, renting and otherwise flying with EFA. We expect line service personnel to maintain a clean and well-groomed appearance at all times. Flight check and ferry opportunities exist for certificated pilots.
Our benefits package for full-time employees includes employer contributions to health and dental plans and annual vacation after one year. Full- and part-time employees receive discounts on aircraft rental and instruction.

Flight check and ferry opportunities are available for certificated pilots. We offer shift work and overtime possibilities.
The maintenance operation is located at the Lawrence Municipal Airport in North Andover, MA with some work performed at Hanscom Field in Bedford, MA. We service our own fleet and numerous owner aircraft, including exotic and aerobatic airplanes. We look for employees with at least three years of piston engine experience.
