EFA Employee Profile – Gary Marcote
EFA mechanic, Gary Marcote, has a long history with the company. As one of our most tenured employees, Gary has been working with EFA aircraft since 1996. Born and raised in Rhode Island, he lived in Connecticut while working on his A/P at East Coast Aero Tech. While in school, Gary worked part-time in the EFA maintenance hanger, and in our line service department.
Upon receiving his A/P in 1997, Gary started working full time at EFA as a mechanic. Since that time, he has worked to refine his skills, and has had the opportunity to work on several of the EFA “project planes” which have involved total top to bottom overhauls of mechanical, powerplant, and avionics systems. He is currently the lead mechanic on the overhaul of the EFA Arrow. In recent years, Gary has earned his Private Pilot certificate through EFA, and has had the opportunity to explore several different levels of aircraft service; working in both piston and turbine shops. His return to the EFA shop has allowed us to provide our customers with one of the best, most experienced mechanics in New England. As Gary says, “I love working on airplanes, there isn’t anything I’d rather do”.
Aircraft Owner Profile – Larry Monroe (N6229Q)
Many of you will be familiar with EFA leaseback owner, Larry Monroe. Through his work as Vice President for International Programs at Berklee College of Music, Larry has taken his knowledge and skills to the world stage, becoming a premier performer and lecturer at contemporary music education programs throughout Europe, Asia, South America and the Middle East. Over the next three years, Larry will divide his time between Boston and Valencia, Spain where he will coordinate the opening of Berklee’s first international branch campus.
If you dont know Larry personally, chances are you know his aircraft. Larry has flown with EFA for nearly thirty years and bought his first plane, N5199J, through our leaseback program in 2002 . In 2004, he upgraded to N21693, a beautiful red and white 172SP, that was a popular choice for our rental customers. Larry has found that his planes are a great resource for visiting family and friends in the greater Northeast area. This past spring, Larry upgraded again, this time to a new Cessna 172SP (N6229Q) with the G1000 avionics package, which he also puchased through our leaseback program and placed with EFA for our training fleet. Larry has found EFA to be an ideal choice for people looking to own an aircraft: The EFA leaseback program offers me a great opportunity to own a plane, have it professionally managed, and have access to it when I need it without the normal hassles of scheduling maintenance and service.
Larry’s wife Rita, when not traveling with Larry, is also an EFA primary student, having gotten her start through our Pinch Hitter program.
