CFI Job Opportunities
Executive Flyers Aviation is recruiting CFIs
Executive Flyers Aviation is one of the oldest and largest flight Schools in New England, and perhaps in the Northeast. It offers Part 141 and Part 61 training for all fixed wing certificates and ratings, along with one of the finest aerobatic programs in the country. We currently employ some 16 – 18 full and part time CFIs, and have nearly 30 aircraft on the line. These aircraft include 2 Cessna 152s, 5 “classic” and 11 new Skyhawks (3 with G1000 glass cockpits), 4 new Skylanes (2 with G1000), a Warrior, an Arrow, a 2005 Seminole, a Decathlon and an Extra 300L. We also have 2 Cessna 162s on order for 2008.
CFI Hiring
EFA is actively seeking both full time and part time CFIs, offering a pay scale that is above industry averages, with a premium for experienced instructors. Our “average” new-hire, full time CFI is a recent graduate of a college or professional program, businesslike, well spoken, and strongly customer service oriented. Instructing experience is not a requirement; a strong work ethic and commitment to EFA’s style of flight training is. While we prefer CFIs to have their instrument instructor certificate before being hired, we will consider those who agree to complete their CFII training with EFA within 60 days of hiring, at reduced employee rates.
Our part time instructors play a major role in our training business. We offer attractive hourly rates and a great instructional environment to qualified CFIs with other jobs, who can be available 2-3 weekday mornings or afternoons, and at least one full weekend day. Aerobatics, multiengine, CFI/CFII/MEI, TAA transition, and even ATP training is often handled by our part time professionals, who further serve as the foundations of our CFI corps.
CFIs can expect a full student load soon after starting, with full time CFIs working 6-day weeks, including weekends and holidays, the times most of our customers want to schedule their training. New CFIs move right into Private, Commercial and Instrument instruction, along with aircraft checkouts, BFRs, IPCs, etc. Full time CFIs often log 80 hours or more per month (some will approach 40 hours in a single week), and frequently become Part 141 Check Instructors within six months. Beyond that, we have a close affiliation (bridge program) with a growing Part 135 airline operating Caravans and Eclipse jets, and a good reputation in the airline and corporate world. In short, EFA can provide a very attractive employment opportunity for a flight instructor.
Candidates with CFI & CFII
We are quite selective in our interview and hiring process, and require our CFIs to adhere to high standards of ethics, honesty and professionalism. We look for outgoing personalities, and expect an instructor to serve as an educator and a customer service professional as well as a very knowledgeable, safety-conscious pilot. Our CFIs adhere to dress and grooming standards, and project an image reflecting EFA’s values at all times.
