Myron’s passion for aviation began like it does for many. At age 13, he bought a flying magazine & his dream of becoming a pilot was born. He read that magazine until the pages wore thin & begged his parents to allow him to work at the local Haverhill Airfield. Sweeping hangars, fueling aircraft & handing wrenches to aircraft mechanics earned his flight training.
Interviewed by local papers upon becoming the youngest licensed pilot in the area at age 16, Myron said, “I plan to further my aeronautical schooling & eventually become an executive in aviation.”

After high school he became a crop duster & crowds gathered to watch his short field & obstacle clearance maneuvers. “I realized”, said Myron, “that between breathing & swallowing mouthfuls of chemicals & continually flying under power lines, my longevity was going to be cut short. So I gave it up.”
Instead Myron served in the US Army as a helicopter mechanic in the Korean War. He became a Sergeant, gaining aviation mechanical & administrative experience.
Back in the USA, Myron became Chief Instructor for East Coast Aero Tech and a USAF Civilian Contract Pilot Instructor. He did technical consulting and airline pilot instruction for Northeast Airline. All of this experience was building to fulfill his dream: to found the best Flight Training Center in New England.
In 1964, Myron Goulian founded Executive Flyers Aviation at Hanscom Field. He was the company’s only Flight Instructor & EFA had a single Piper Cherokee 140. From the first small kiosk in the terminal lobby, EFA quickly earned a positive reputation.
As the company grew, Myron handpicked the best flight instructors, invested in training technologies, expanded the fleet & became an aircraft dealer. Customers could now fulfill their dreams of flight: from first take off to becoming a well trained owner of their own aircraft.
Myron developed FAA endorsed Part 141 training procedures for EFA courses. He formed the EFA training philosophies of one-on-one instruction & periodic stage checks by senior staff. As an executive with the Massachusetts Aviation Trades Association (MATA) Myron championed for noise abatement procedures making recommendations that are still used today.

While he established his business, Myron also established a family. His wife Rita has worked at EFA for 4 decades & his sons Mike & Matt grew up in aircraft cockpits. However, Myron never missed his kid’s hockey games & was active in rotary club, fundraising activities, little league baseball & school advisory committees.
Myron Goulian passed away from cancer in 2000. His family continues his legacy: Executive Flyers Aviation.
