Rita Goulian

In a male dominated industry, EFA is unique in having a woman owner. Rita Goulian continues the legacy of her husband Myron who passed away from cancer in Sept. 2000.

The “spotlight” often fell on Myron, well known in the aviation industry & local community & later their son Mike, national aerobatic champ & current EFA President but those close to EFA know it is Rita’s contribution over the past 40 years that keeps the company on a steady heading.

Rita has worked in the Flight Training business for four decades & has seen a lot of flight schools come & go at Hanscom Field. Superior customer service, keeping pace with flight technology and exacting training has served EFA well. “EFA’s concept of training has not changed… safety 1st & producing the highest quality pilots” says Rita, “& in the process we’ve met a lot of wonderful customers & made loads of friends.”

“I’m especially proud of our contribution to the airline industry. We’ve trained hundreds of airline pilots, so necessary for today’s travel. We’ve trained owners of private jet companies. NASA Astronaut Charles Precourt Jr, who commands shuttles & was the first American in the Russian MIR, learned to fly here at EFA.”

“In recent years, there’s been more security restrictions & maybe the ‘atmosphere’ on the ramp is a bit more formal,” Rita says, “but this hasn’t hindered us or deterred our customers & their enjoyment of flying.”

“My husband started EFA out of love… love for flying… this & a lot of hard work has made us successful… & after 4 decades, I still love this job.”
