Face wash is an essential skincare product for both men and women, so you should know the rules surrounding bringing face wash on a plane on your next flight.
According to TSA regulations, you can bring face wash on a plane in both your carry on and checked bags, though if packed in your carry on, the face wash must be in a container that does not exceed 3.4oz/100ml.

Bring Face Wash in Your Carry on Bag
As just mentioned, you can bring face wash on a plane in your carry on bags, but only if it is in a container that is no larger than 3.4oz/100ml.
This is because the TSA has a rule in place called the 3-1-1 Rule that prohibits passengers from bringing any liquids, gels, and aerosols in containers that exceed 3.4oz/100ml due to security concerns.
Bring Face Wash in Your Checked Bag
If you are planning on checking in a bag, it’s a good idea to place your face wash in the bag.
This is because checked bags are not restricted to the 3-1-1 Rule, so you can pack any sized face wash in the bag.
Domestic vs International Flights
Whether you’re flying domestically or internationally makes no difference.
While it might not be called the 3-1-1 Rule worldwide, you’ll still find that when flying internationally, the same restrictions on liquids, gels, and aerosols apply.
So you can bring face wash on a plane in both your carry on and checked bags, but the face wash must not exceed 3.4oz/100ml if packed in your carry on.
Airline Policies
Airlines follow TSA regulations.
So when checking in for your flight, make sure that you pack your face wash in your checked bag if it exceeds 3.4oz/100ml, otherwise it will be confiscated by a TSA agent when you go through airport security.
How to Pack Face Wash When Flying
- If you’re packing face wash in your checked bag, there are no special considerations.
- If packing face wash in your carry on, it should be placed in a clear, 1-quart sized resealable bag along with your other liquids, gels, and aerosols.
Face Wash Soap Bar Might Be a Better Idea
The good news is that you can bring face wash soap on a plane in both your carry on and checked bags with no size or quantity restrictions.
This is because face wash soap is considered a solid, so the 3-1-1 Rule doesn’t apply.
Just make sure that the soap is completely dry and not mushy, so you don’t run into any problems.
Can You Bring Face Cream, Toner and Moisturizer?
Again, the same rules apply.
So, if the toner, face cream, or moisturizer exceeds 3.4oz/100ml, it should be packed in your checked bag otherwise it will get confiscated by a TSA agent.
What About Makeup Wipes?
Even though makeup wipes are soaked in liquid, the 3-1-1 Rule doesn’t apply.
So you can bring makeup wipes on a plane in both your carry on and checked bags with no restrictions.
And Makeup?
Whether you can bring makeup on a plane depends on the makeup you want to bring, the size of the product, and if you want to pack the item in your carry on or checked bags.
